Active holidays with lots to do in Partschins near Meran
Every season has its special attraction in Partschins: in spring there is the apple blossom, in summer the walking season, in autumn comes törggelen (tasting the new wine) with the grape harvest, while in winter you can go skiing in the nearby ski resorts of Meran 2000 and the Schnalstal glacier.
The Partschins typewriter museum, dedicated to Peter Mitterhofer, the South Tyrolean inventor of the typewriter, presents an interesting journey back through the history of digital communications. The large model railway layout presents South Tyrol in miniature and will astonish both children and adults alike. The Nordic Walking Tour starts right from the village and offers several routes of varying degrees of difficulty.
The Partschins climbing wall and high-rope course allow climbers (both large and small) to test out their skills. An extensive network of cycle paths leads along the Etsch Valley to Mals to the north and Meran, the Passeier Valley and Bozen to the south.
Just a few kilometres from Partschins above the Etsch Valley rises Juval Castle, the summer residence of Reinhold Messner, with its fascinating private collection. Close by is the entrance to the Schnalstal Valley, an idyllic walking area in summer, with the Schnalstal glacier offering magnificent all-year skiing.
